Matomy SEO (formerly Text Link Ads) is an international company with headquarters in the United States. It is a part of Matomy Media Group, a group of companies that has several online marketing divisions; including affiliate network, display advertising, virtual currency and others. Matomy SEO is specialized in text links ads brokerage. Main purpose of these links is to (artificially) increase a website visibility to search engines. Idea behind this is that quality websites will pass some of their importance through a link. Part with quality websites is true, as they only accept established websites with traffic. In the past, one of the factors used to measure value of links was the Page Rank (Google’s measure of page importance). Apparently they dropped this, as you can’t see it anywhere now. These ads are unobtrusive and can be used to bring in traffic as well, especially if placed on a good position and well-targeted to site content.
Admin area is simple and easy to use and allows you to maintain both, your publisher and advertiser account. In order to start selling links, you need choose categories for your website; add name, description and keywords; tell them where you will place their ads; and how many links you wish to sell. In the next step, you are required to paste their code on your home page or on your most prominent landing page. They provide code for several programming languages, as well as plugins for popular blogging platforms. You can even add links manually if you prefer to fiddle with your source code every time when someone purchases a link. After the approval process is finished, they will place your property on the marketplace, which will allow potential advertisers to find your website. You can choose to approve new ads automatically or to review them first. Now you sit and wait, which is usually not too long as their sales team is quick. In addition, their affiliate program will pay 10-15% for every publisher (depends on how much they earn) and $25 for every advertiser you refer.
Only real issue I find is that you are not allowed to place nofollow attribute on paid links. This could theoretically cause your website to get banned from Google search. If the links are not from the same category or industry, it may be a clear signal to Google that links are not natural. I recently discussed this issue with a colleague who runs these ads on two websites, one technology and one entertainment for last five years without any issues. His page rank (if it still matters) is stable and ranking in his niche is very good.
Google strongly disapproves practice of link selling, as they believe it is used to manipulate SERPS. Last year they even launched mini offensive against link selling websites, including publishers and advertisers. Matt Cutts even mentioned TLA (now Matomy) in one of his tweets as one of the affected networks. I can’t comment on the results of this, but market still seems to be alive.
Can you earn money with Matomy SEO? Yes, you can. They always pay on time and their sales team can find buyers for most websites. It is important to set you prices accordingly. For example, you can sell a PR5 front page link on a technology based website for $30-$60 per month, or even more if your website is considered to be authority in that field. If you are not worried about Google penalties, you may give them a try and see if it works for you.
Minimum payment is $25 and you are paid at the beginning of the month for the previous month.
